Australia Wins Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup titles

The Australian teams have swept the world team 16-and-under championships with victories today in Italy. The boys beat Argentina 2-0, the girls defeated Poland 2-1. The ITF website hasn't yet posted a story or any results, but Tennis Australia posted this brief story on its website today. The boys really dominated the field, not losing a single point throughout the tournament.

There has been quite a bit of conversation in Europe about the prospects of 14-year-old Spaniard Carlos Boluda and he's had two notable results this month. He won the singles and doubles in an ITF Grade 5 in early September, then followed it with a win in the European 16-and-under Junior Masters. The details, with photo, can be found at the Tennis Europe website.

Congratulations to Tennessean Claire Bartlett and Filip Krajinovic-Piskovic of Serbia for their victories at the ITF Grade 4 in Georgia. Krajinovic-Piskovic was a finalist in the Illinois ITF the week before. Jordan Cox and Bob Van Overbeek won the boys doubles; Lauren Herring and Grace Min were the girls doubles champions.

And prequalifying is complete at the ITA All-American tournaments. Jay Goldman, Matt Allare and Brad Cox are U.S. freshmen who advanced to the qualifying in Tulsa. For complete draw results, click here. Reka Zsilinszka of Duke made it to qualifying; the women's results are here.

Perhaps in the future we will learn to send our best players like the other countries did so we won't have to read about another country winning it.

Agree with above. Clearly Australia sent its best players that qualified to win. The USA team choices made no sense to me. How about Ryhne Williams, Devin Britton and Ryan Harrison or Chase Buchanan, Alexander Domijan. Williams should have played!

I think Dan Gliner should have earned a wild card into the main draw of all-americans because of his kalamazoo result. He is playing great...gliner for president.

where is this so called all american championship being played currently in todays day of play?

haha gliner?.. he would get pummeled against the main draw players in college.. hes so weak... ryan harrison was overpowering him at kzoo and hes 15.. imagine gliner vs the older stronger college players.. he will get destroyed...

I hate when people take comments like "Dan Gliner should have gotten a md wildcard" seriously. I'm pretty sure the person was kidding and just throwing Gliner under the bus so that someone like you could put him down. Calling Daniel "so weak" is just dumb. He's like 5 7' how big of a ball do you think he's going have? He's one of the smartest players in junior tennis and is playing for usc.

this is really random but does anybody know what happened to former florida player matthieu manasse. Last I heard that he quit his job at del taco and traveled to africa looking for a teaching pro job. and dont bag on gliner. he maybe is not strong enough but he has more heart than anyone out there.
